K-pop superstar CL has released her long-awaited full-length album, ALPHA. The singer-rapper has also shared a new MV for ‘Tie A Cherry’.
After months of anticipation with single releases ‘SPICY’ and ‘Lover Like Me’, CL’s first studio album as a solo artist, ALPHA, is now available to stream across all digital platforms.
The album signals a new era for the ‘Baddest Female’ as an artist, in which she sings and raps (both in Korean and American) about empowerment and independence.
She says,
“I’m excited to finally be able to share ALPHA with the rest of the world. My fans waited a long time for it, but I believe that timing has a way of being perfect. This album reflects my true essence, and I can’t wait to introduce everyone to all the different sides of CL.”
To celebrate this momentous release, CL has shared a new music video for ‘Tie A Cherry’.
CL (real name Lee Chae-rin) is best known as the frontwoman for K-pop group 2NE1. She served as the writer and co-producer for their 2014 album Crush, which went on to become the highest-charting and best-selling Korean album in US Billboard 200 history.
She embarked on a solo career in 2016 with the release of the smash hit ‘Lifted’, garnering over 33 million YouTube views and landing an appearance on The Late Late Show with James Corden.
A winner for the 2019 People’s Choice Award for ‘The Most Inspiring Asian Woman, CL has collaborated with the likes of the Black Eyed Peas, Lil Yachty, Skrillex and Diplo.
Her 2020 singles ‘+H₩A+’ and ‘+5-STAR’ has earned over a combined 36 million streams to date.
