Underground music paradise Air Festival announces March 2018 return

Indonesia-based underground music paradise Air Festival is returning in its fourth year on Saturday-Monday, March 31-April 2 on Gili Air Island, Tenggara Barat.

Since its first frolic in 2015, the festival has cemented itself of the foremost gatherings of visionaries, musicians, artists and dancers in the region.

Once again, frequenters and fresh faces will experience three days and nights of music and magic across two stages – the main Air Stage and Awan Stage, the festival’s living, sacred fire-breathing heart first introduced in 2017. Lineup details, consisting of Air alums and surprise heavy-hitters, will be revealed soon.

Founded by a group of friends rooted in the underground dance scene, Air Festival started out as an intimate event with the aim to gather artists and party-people from all over the world. The team members have built sets and stages for various beloved festivals, including Fusion, Subsonic and Wonderfruit.

Beside showing guests a good time, the Air Festival team commit themselves to sustainable goals, supporting the local community in ways of waste removal and reduction and challenging themselves to go completely plastic free.

Early bird, priced at IDR1,216,000 (~USD90), will be available through the festival’s website.


Update (Dec 19): The festival unveiled its lineup performers.

Fans of deep, spine tingling house music will enjoy New York’s Fred P from Soul People Music, while Tuskagee and Crosstown Rebels artist Bas Ibellini will bring plenty of fresh tech house. Rampa will deal in warm, progressive and melodic house as Ata, DJ and founder of renowned club Robert Johnson whose labels include Playhouse, Klang, and Ongaku is also billed to play.

Others include Mimi Love, KMLN, Peak & Swift, Jonathan Kusuma, Esther Silex, Dave Dinger, Walker Barnard, Tiago Oudman, Sylvie Forêt, Dr. Kessler, Ricardo Who, Archie, Trigan Young, Dr. Yez, Kai, Kusaki, Art Alfie, and Boris Werner.
