Funked up pop band DNCE are set to get Bangkok and Singapore grooving as they perform both cities for the first time this August.
The Joe Jonas-fronted outfit will be headlining the sixth installment of Soundbox Bangkok on Thursday, August 10 at Muang Thai GMM Live House, Central World. They’ll be joined by J-rockers Sekai no Owari and Gnash, an American singer and producer behind chart-topper “I Hate You, I Love You”.
Tickets to Soundbox Bangkok are THB1,500 and 2,500, going on sale through Thai Ticket Major and its outlets June 25 onwards. My Live Nation pre-sale will be on June 23. The meet & greet package is available for THB4,000 and must be purchased separately from the concert ticket. The package includes a photo opportunity with DNCE (in a group of four), a signed photograph and a commemorative VIP laminate.
DNCE’s Singapore debut is happening on Tuesday, August 15 at Suntec Convention Centre Hall 403. Tickets are SGD128 / 188 / 278 (VIP), going on sale June 22 (10am) via all APACTix channels. Live Nation Lushington mailing list subscribers also have access to pre-sale tickets on June 21 from 10am-11.59pm. The VIP package includes a meet & greet and priority entry.
While in Asia, DNCE will make a stop at Incheon’s Pentaport Rock Festival and In The Mix Manila, where they make up a star-studded lineup alongside Two Door Cinema Club, 5 Seconds of Summer and Zara Larsson.
In the summer of 2015 Joe Jonas recruited close musician friends, South Korean guitarist Jinjoo Lee and drummer Jack Lawless, who’ve toured with the Jonas Brothers, and bassist and keyboardist Cold Whittle, a co-founder of New York rock band Semi Precious Weapons. The stellar team settled on the name DNCE, dance without an A, because it’s “not a perfect word, but you don’t have to be a perfect dancer to dance in life. Sometimes it is never perfect, but you can still enjoy life.”
DNCE are best known for danceable numbers “Cake By the Ocean”, “Body Move” and most recently “Kissing Strangers”, featuring Nick Minaj.
Soundbox is an annual concept concert series created by Live Nation in 2015. In previous years, the multi-act show has seen pop and alternative favourites like Charlie Puth, Pentatonix, Broods, The Temper Trap and twenty one pilots perform.
