The Chicago-based rock band have teamed up with the iconic Canadian indie pop duo for a new version of their single ‘Cloud 9’.
Beach Bunny has dropped a new version of their hit single, ‘Cloud 9’, featuring iconic indie duo Tegan and Sara. The swooning anthem features updated lyrics with gender neutral and feminine pronouns.
Of the song, Tegan and Sara says,
βWe’re massive fans of Beach Bunny, and when we heard βCloud 9β for the first time fell in love with the brilliant lyrics and addictive melody. We love that Lili was up to let us experiment with changing the pronoun in the chorus to she. The efforts made to make the song relatable to everyone, isn’t just about inclusivity, we think it’s a great indication of the flexibility and creative spirit of the band at its core!β
‘Cloud 9’, the hit single from Beach Bunny’s debut LP Honeymoon last year re-emerged in the charts this month. The song spent five consecutive weeks on the Spotify Global Viral 50 Chart. The song previously enjoyed success with over 1.3 million creations on TikTok.
2020 saw the band’s biggest year yet, with their debut LP featured in many Best Albums of the Year lists including The New York Times, Rolling Stone, LA Times, and Consequence of Sound.
Earlier this year, Beach Bunny released their four-trak EP Blame Game, which led to their debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live! The live performance saw them perform ‘Good Girls (Don’t Get Used)’.
