Emerging alt-pop starlet Beren Olivia‘s impactful song, ‘Hurt Again’, has had over 15k streams on Spotify since its release last month. It is also the second single taken from an upcoming debut EP produced by Dylan Bauld, who has produced for Halsey and Simple Creatures.

It is another all too relatable heavy-hitter from the burgeoning songwriter, and reflects the contradictory nature of personal growth. As someone who takes ownership of their mistakes, but still reserves every right to make them.Β

In ‘Hurt Again’, the song peels back layers to reveal a vulnerable core longing for love.Β

Beren Olivia explains,Β

β€œIn the past I’d dive head first into relationships I knew weren’t good for me. But to be honest, those were also the ones that started out the most fun. My mum could always somehow predict the outcome of the relationship, whether I wanted to believe it or not at the time. β€˜Hurt Again’ was written from the perspective of starting a new relationship knowing that it will go wrong, but being naive enough to hope that they will prove otherwise.”

The 22-year-old has made an impressive name for herself since coming out the gate in 2020. Independently going from zero to 4.5 million streams in a few singles and picking up huge support at BBC Radio 1 as well as Clash, who described Beren’s talent as “The 22 year old is surging into fresh spaces…deliciously infectious”. Beren has seen wide support across Asia, withΒ  her Top 15 Countries that include: #5 Singapore, #6 Philippines, #7 Thailand, #10 Indonesia, #11 Malaysia, and #12 Hong Kong based on streams.

Beren’s bright reality is capturing the bare essence of what it is to be young and navigating those winding formative pathways. The strength of Beren’s songwriting has seen success way beyond the norm – but it’s her authentic relatability online that has gained her swathes of fans who rally around her. A former competitive swimmer, Beren is the same girl who’s never been to a music festival (though is intent on changing that) yet through following her true passion has found herself working with her heroes. Amidst the highs and lows of being a teenager on the path of pursuing a competitive sports career – Beren was no stranger to hard work. There was even a developing acting career on the side. One day however, and without hesitation, this was all given up to pursue her passion in music, and has since found her feet as one of the UK’s brightest young prospects.
