If you’re into songs that make you feel like you’re living out a scene from your favorite coming-of-age movie, Better Days’ new EP What Comes After should be next on your playlist.

The band officially launched the 5-track EP on May 3 at Sanctuary Cafe & Bar in Quezon City, surrounded by fans who’ve been following their journey since songs like “Ms. Suzy,” “Only One In Love,” and “My Could Have Been” first made waves. With the recent release of “Unahan” and “Babe” in February, this new EP is the band’s way of putting it all out there—raw emotions, relatable stories, and the kind of music that sticks with you.

What Comes After dives deep into what it’s like to fall for someone who might not feel the same. The standout track “Babe” captures the awkward, nerve-wracking tension of keeping your feelings to yourself. With a mellow beat and emotional vocals, it’s the kind of song you’d play while staring at the ceiling at 1 a.m., asking yourself all the “what ifs.”

“Babe” is all about that inner struggle of wanting to confess but being held back by fear. As lead vocalist Nigel Blue puts it, the production mirrors the feeling of being tipsy—when your guard’s down, your emotions are loud, but your words still won’t come out. That frustration comes through loud and clear in lyrics like “Pero paano ko ba aaminin, ang lahat ng nasa aking isip?”

While most of the EP tackles matters of the heart, “Unahan” takes a surprising but refreshing turn. Inspired by guitarist Nim Garcia’s experience commuting in the Philippines, this track feels like a ride through Manila’s rush hour—with an energetic beat to match. It gives the EP a nice break from heartbreak without losing the realness fans have come to expect from Better Days.

Every track on What Comes After tells a story—some about love, others about life—and that’s what makes this EP feel personal. It doesn’t rely on over-the-top drama or big declarations. Instead, it reflects everyday moments that anyone can relate to: falling in love, holding back, missing chances, or just trying to get to your destination—literally or emotionally.

Whether you’re deep in your feelings or just looking for good music with substance, What Comes After gives you something to hold on to.
