BLACKPINK’s Lisa sets a world record on YouTube with her hotly-anticipated solo debut single, ‘Lalisa’.

Eager K-pop fans around the world collectively rejoiced when LISA, of mega-popular group BLACKPINK, made her solo debut with the release of the singer-rapper’s title track ‘Lalisa’ last Friday, September 10.

The music video sees the 24-year-old singer-rapper in a multitude of intricate dance choreographies and elaborate costume changes, including most notably, an elaborate Thai-themed outfit that pays homage to her heritage.

The track for the music video on YouTube reached over a staggering 100 million views in the span of a little over two days, in an announcement made by label management YG Entertainment via Twitter yesterday.

It is the fastest music video by a solo artist worldwide to reach such high numbers, however YouTube has yet to officially acknowledge the achievement.

In addition to the all-time record, LISA has also shared a special performance of her single yesterday.

Considered to be one of the biggest girl groups in the world, BLACKPINK have broken records with their singles since their debut in 2016, both as a group and as solo artists. Their music videos have racked up over a billion views including ‘Kill This Love’ and ‘BOOMBAYAH’.

Jennie, the first member to go solo, became the first Korean artist with over 700 million views on YouTube with her single ‘Solo’. Soon after, RosΓ©’s ‘On The Ground’ also set records by becoming the first music video by a Korean artist to achieve over 40 million views in the first 24 hours.

Lisa (real name Lisa Manoban) marks the third of the four members to have a solo debut. Often seen as the most popular member within the group, she is also the youngest and is a cultural icon in the hearts of many within Thailand due to her Thai nationality.
