If you’ve been following Chilli Beans., you know they never stay quiet for long. After just dropping their latest EP the outside wind at the end of June, the trio is already back with a brand new digital single — and this one hits differently.
Titled “Himawari ひまわり” (that’s Japanese for sunflower), the track has just been announced as the official ending theme for the newly rebooted anime Hell Teacher: Jigoku Sensei Nube — and it’s honestly the perfect fit.
For anyone who didn’t grow up in the ‘90s or missed it the first time around, Nube was one of those unforgettable supernatural anime shows that stuck with you. Think scary spirits, heroic teachers, and mysterious school hallways. The original manga sold over 30 million copies worldwide, and it had a strong fan base across Southeast Asia. Now, it’s making a long-awaited return starting 2 July, airing weekly on Japan’s TV Asahi.
Chilli Beans.’ “Himawari” captures that exact mix of nostalgia and heart. It’s not a loud, flashy track — instead, it slowly unfolds like a memory. Written, composed, and arranged entirely by the band, the song reflects on the relationship between a student and their teacher — moments of protection, trust, and quiet strength. You’ll hear soft guitar melodies and warm vocals that almost sound like walking home as the sun sets and the school day ends.
In their own words:
“We pictured the feeling of walking home at sunset. The strength of the teacher is in the sound, and the lyrics express the student’s quiet trust. It’s a new sound for us, and we’re proud to contribute to Nube’s iconic world.”
Whether you’re a long-time fan of the anime or just discovering Chilli Beans. now, “Himawari” is one of those songs that stays with you — like the last page of a really good story.
