Defiled Live in Singapore 2017

Come April, Japanese death metal band Defiled will be back to Singapore after almost three years. And this time the musical samurais are armed with new music from fifth album Toward Inevitable Ruins.

The band is playing at The Music Parlour Singapore on April 10. Local and regional acts Demonification, Dispiteous (残), and Larrong are set to support.

Formed in 1992 by guitarist and remaining founding member Yusuke Sumita, Defiled made a debut with 1994 EP Defeat of Sanity. The group derive part of their inspiration from early death metal and the famous Florida style as pioneered by Death and Morbid Angel. What makes Defiled’s sound unique are the influences coming from their surroundings. Being from Tokyo, the band draws from the brutality and cyber tech atmosphere of this madly sprawling metropolis.

The release of critically acclaimed first album Erupted Wrath (1999) led to an invitation to the prestigious Milwaukee Metalfest, which makes Defiled the first Japanese band to have this honour. This is followed by the New Jersey Metal Meltdown, which they play for four consecutive years and in the year 2000 the band tours Europe with Dementor.

Despite the changes in the band’s lineup, currently with Shinichiro Hamada on vocal and guitar, Yusuke Sumita on guitar, Hiroaki Sato on bass and Keisuke Hamada on drums, Defiled continued to come out with solid albums and play headline tours over the years. After their creative break following the release of and promotional activities for 2011’s In Crisis  the samurais of Death Metal are now ready to open a new triumphant chapter with Towards Inevitable Ruin.
