PULP Summer Slam 17: Redemption

Red Horse Beer and PULP Live World present PULP Summer Slam 17: Redemption, the seventeenh edition of Southeast Asia’s largest and longest-running metal festival this April 29 at Amoranto Stadium, Quezon City.

Living metal legends Megadeth will headline a stellar lineup that features Dragonforce, Whitechapel, Crossfaith, I See Stars, Gods of Eden, Slapshock, GREYHOUNDZ, WilaBaliW, Razorback, Kjwan and the 2016 Red Horse Beer Pambansang Muziklaban Champion Shotgun Combo.

This year’s roster promises to be the biggest Slam ever with Megadeth headlining this monster lineup of ferocity and chaos. The American heavy metal band, currently comprised of bassist David Ellefson, guitarist Kiko Loureiro, drummer Dirk Verbeuren and two-time Golden God awardee frontman Dave Mustaine, are set to return to Manila after their successful headline Manila concert held in 2012. Together with Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax, Megadeth are widely regarded as part of “the Big Four” that changed the landscape of metal and heavy rock music forever with classics such as “A Tout Le Monde,” “Holy Wars…The Punishment Due”, “Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying?” and “Symphony of Destruction” among many others.

Two international Slam alumni are also set to make a return to the Philippines’ most commanding rock stage. British power metal band Dragonforce (from PULP Summer Slam XIII: ‘Til Death Do Us part) are universally known for their fantasy themes, technical precision and the guitar-playing prowess of Herman Li while Japanese electronicore band Crossfaith (from PULP Summer Slam 14: Children of the Damned) return from their head-turning first time to their newfound status as one of Japan’s biggest rock exports.

Tennessee-based deathcore band Whitechapel will be touring in support of their recently released sixth full-length album Mark of the Blade, the followup to their 2014 breakthrough release Our Endless War, which peaked at the Billboard Album Charts at the Top 10. Adding to the monster roster is American electronicore band I See Stars, widely considered as a pioneering electronicore band and recognised as one of the very first bands to fuse elements of post-hardcore and metalcore music with an eclectic electronic sound dating back to 2006.

Completing the international lineup is Australian progressive metal band Gods of Eden. Considered by Slam devotees as the Three Kings of Pinoy Heavy Rock, WilaBaliW, GREYHOUNDZ and Slapshock are back as local headliners while Razorback, Kjwan and the 2016 Red Horse Beer Pambansang Muziklaban Champion Shotgun Combo supports the local roster.
