The French-British pop group enters 2021 with a new single, ‘Holly Golightly’, the second track taken from their forthcoming album Banane Bleue.

Pop group FrΓ nΓ§ois & The Atlas Mountains have dropped a new single to start the new year titled ‘Holly Golightly’. It is the second track to be taken from the band’s forthcoming album, Banane Bleue, due for release on February 26. The track follows the first single ‘Coucou’.

‘Holly Golightly’ is named after the character in Truman Capote’s 1958 novella Breakfast At Tiffany’s and touches on key themes of romance and relationships in metropolitan cities.

The official music video visualizer features illustrations of Audrey Hepburn’s portrayal of the character from the film version of the novella.

Expanding on the song, frontman François Marry notes,

“‘Holly Golightly’ refers to the character in the Truman Capote novella, Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Taken from the point of view of a writer fascinated by an endearing neighbouring friend, the narrator keeps his passion silent and writes letters instead (“crashing into the stationary”). The song was written on a cheap acoustic guitar very much like the one Audrey Hepburn uses to sing Moon River in the film adaptation of the novella. Renaud Letang mixed this song with Jonathan Richman in mind. I now imagine Jonathan walking arm in arm with Holly in downtown Manhattan. This song would be a great soundtrack to their breakfast.”

FrΓ nΓ§ois & The Atlas Mountains’ Banane Bleue (French for ‘Blue Banana) is written solely by FrΓ nΓ§ois Marry, with close collaborator and Weird World artist Jaakko Eino Kalevi as producer and Renaud Letang (Feist, Gonzales, Connan Mockasin) taking mixing duties.

The album is named after the geographical theory known as the ‘blue banana’ concept. Developed in the 1980s, the theory groups Europe’s biggest cities into a corridor, with the cities’ boundaries resulting in the formation of an interconnected megalopolis shaped like a banana.
