The aficionados of collaboration, Hermitude have teamed up with pop, R&B mainstay Kimbra to deliver a stripped back electronic cut infused with jazz, soul and R&B.

The new track ‘Janela’ offers a reprieve from the recent string of dancefloor bangers and is reflective of the range in production we’ve come to know and love from Hermitude.

On the collaboration, Hermitude shares,

“Janela is a tune we had written at our studio in Sydney, but could never find the right vocalist. It wasn’t until we went to Brooklyn New York last year to take part in an APRA writing camp that Janela came into it’s own, thanks to the prowess of Kimbra. We played her the beat and she instantly gelled with it, humming melodies along with it straight away. It was quite a personal song for her and we could tell by the emotion she was putting into the microphone. We felt like we got something really special that day”.

The release comes with news of a deluxe reissue of Hermitude’s 2019 record ‘Pollyanarchy’ set for release on November 13 featuring unreleased tracks with Drew Love (They) and Kameron Alexander and recent single “Spotlight” featuring Daniel Bedingfield. ‘Pollyanarchy’ soared to #6 on the ARIA charts and featured as triple j’s album of the week seeing the duo bring together festival-worthy collaborations including Buddy & BJ The Chicago Kid, Vic Mensa, Bibi Bourelly, Electric Fields and Haiku Hands.

Taking to the stage last weekend at REBOUND festival in Darwin for the first time since their mammoth world tour in 2019 (which included stops in Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok and Seoul), Hermitude are inspired and back in the studio with exciting things on the horizon for 2020.

Their POLLYANARCHY (DELUXE)’ album will be released on 13 November and can be pre-ordered and saved here.
