Former PLUUS member and rising solo artist JL Gaspar is proving that he’s ready for the spotlight with his debut single, “Alon”, officially selected as the theme song for GMA Network’s Tagalized version of the Korean hit drama The Lovely Runner. The adaptation premieres on June 23 at 5:10 PM—and JL’s voice will be front and center.
Released on June 6, “Alon” is a heartfelt pop ballad that captures the emotional highs and lows of love—making it a perfect companion for the time-travel romance between Ryu Sun-Jae (Byeon Woo-seok) and Im Sol (Kim Hye-yoon). The song’s lyrics mirror the waves of longing, hope, and heartbreak that define the series. Even better? Water plays a symbolic role in the story. From poolside scenes to a seaside getaway, it all ties back to the ebb and flow of connection—and “Alon” captures that perfectly.
JL is no stranger to hard work. After graduating from PLUUS, he won Universe League, a Korean survival show that earned him a spot in a new global K-pop group. He’s also been making moves in endorsements, recently being named an honorary ambassador for I Like It Korea Milk. Fans even got to meet him during a mall event at Robinsons Magnolia on June 14.
The official “Alon” music video is already out on Universal Records’ YouTube channel, and the track is available on Spotify, Apple Music, and all major streaming platforms. It’s a standout debut that showcases JL’s smooth vocals and emotional range—something long-time fans have always known he had.
With The Lovely Runner receiving rave reviews worldwide (4 stars from The Straits Times and a nod in Time’s Best K-Dramas of 2024), the show is expected to hit home with Filipino audiences. The buzz around Byeon Woo-seok’s upcoming fan meeting in Manila on July 19 only adds more excitement.
