Lady Gaga to tackle Super Bowl and David Bowie Grammys tribute

Give it to Gaga to dominate your TV screen these coming weeks…

The 29-year-old Grammy-winning singer is due to sing the American national anthem at the Super Bowl on February 7 and perform a David Bowie tribute at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards the following Sunday.

The NFL confirmed Tuesday (Feb 2) to Associated Press Lady Gaga will be singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, preceding Coldplay’s headline half-time show performance.

Also on Tuesday, the Grammy Awards announced that the “Applause” singer will be paying a special medley tribute to the late British legend. Longtime Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich revealed the pop star was already booked for the show before Bowie’s passing in January so he discussed with Lady Gaga and her camp about the change.

“[It] is going to be a true homage to who David was,” Ehrlich tells TIME. “Particularly musically, but not ignoring his influence on fashion and pop culture in a broader way.”

As for Lady Gaga, she’s more than honoured to dedicate this performance to her idol: “I fell in love with David Bowie […] I always felt that his glamour was something he was using to express a message to people that was very healing for their souls.”

Other big names who booked to perform at the 58th Grammy Awards include Adele, Kendrick Lamar, the Weeknd, Carrie Underwood and Sam Hunt. The show will be broadcast live on CBS on Feb 15.

After releasing her record Artpop and Tony Bennett-collaborated album Cheek To Cheek respectively in 2013 and 2014, Lady Gaga has kept herself busy with acting. She starred in the fifth season of Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story, for which she won a Golden Globe last month.
