lewloh has dropped his long-awaited sophomore album, michigan/missinghim, a refreshing take on folk music. The singer-songwriter collaborates with Nashville-based producer Isaiah Beard (Baerd) and Joshua Evan Lee (SLAYN) to produce the cinematic 13-track album.
One only realises how false the narrative of true love really is after experiencing love and heartbreak for the first time. With michigan/missinghim, a personal story of second love, lewloh enters the next relationship with cautious eyes and hesitation. However, love is the song of the sirens, and will eventually pull you in so close that it becomes impossible to escape the cycle of falling, connecting and then eventually disconnecting – leaving us once again scarred but more perceptive of love and life.
The focus track ‘terminal’ is an expression of the struggles of a long distance relationship and knowing from the start that there was always an expiration date. The duet features Julia Gartha from Ontario, Canada.
michigan/missinghim was teased through lewloh’s singles ‘summer boy’, ‘cold these days’, ‘galaxy (feat. NESS FRANCO)’, and his recent surprise drop ‘carelessly killed’. The singles were received extremely well in the region, landing spots on playlists such as Spotify’s coveted New Music Friday playlists through Southeast Asia, Taiwan and Hong Kong, and the #1 position on Apple Music’s Breaking Singer-Songwriter playlist. His tracks have been added to over 15 radio stations in Southeast Asia. Additionally, michigan/missinghim is one of the first albums in Southeast Asia that are available to stream with Apple Music’s Spatial Audio.
lewloh recently performed for TikTok Asia’s Music Night #CityPop edition and has been featured on outlets including MTV Asia, NME Asia, Esquire Singapore, Radio And Music (IN), Mr Life Day (TW), Boleh Music (ID), Daily Guardian (ID), and Clockenflap (HK).
