Released on Friday, June 10 via 88rising and 12Tone Music, Rich Brian’s new bubbly summer jam, ‘Love In My Pocket’ features a hilarious “no-budget, no-VFX” green-screen music video.
Rapper and singer-songwriter Rich Brian returned with a new song last week titled ‘Love In My Pocket’, a fun, sun-drenched pop anthem that marks a new chapter for the rapper due to how completely fresh and different it sounds.
Rich Brian, who has been under quarantine like everyone else, gained inspiration from his socially distant summer in which he has surrounded himself with the likes of talents such as Thundercat and Trippie Redd. Written and produced with longtime collaborators Bekon and The Donuts (who’ve collaborated with Kendrick Lamar and SZA), we’re given a bubbly summer jam with an incredibly catchy chorus including rap verses you’ve come to expect from the rapper. What’s worth noting of the song, however, is the hilarious unfinished music video.
“I couldn’t go on tour this year so I ran out of budget for VFX on this video lol”, reads the video’s introduction. A product of the current COVID-19 situation that has been affecting everyone around the world, the music video is devoid of any special effects with Rich Brian merely walking and running on a green screen as he sings and raps the song.
Check out the video below:
Speaking on ‘Love In My Pocket’, Brian explains:
βThis song is about living in an environment of attention being sought with love happening around you that you feel like you deserve to experience but donβt know how to get, and fears being conquered.βΒ
The rapper has even encouraged fans to edit the music video as seen his and 88rising’s social media channels:
“Download the video and edit Rich Brian into your world. Post your videos using #loveinmypocket and tag Brian. Our favorites might appear in his next videoβ¦ “
With an ever-growing fanbase, we cannot wait to see what funny memeworthy videos fans will come up with for the rapper.
And as a bonus, in line with the rapper’s trolling sense of humor, there is also a low-budget ‘Microsoft Paint’ version of the music video that must be seen to be believed.
‘Love In My Pocket’ follows Brianβs smash hit, ‘Bali’, which was released back in April. Featuring Guapdad 4000, ‘Bali’ has crossed over 20 million streams since its release and received praises from outlets like The New York Times, Billboard, Complex, and more.
