SHINee to perform at KCON LA with girl group I.O.I

SHINee is heading back to America this June to delight K-pop fans at KCON LA 2016 along with new girl group I.O.I and several other acts.

KCON USA announced Thursday (May 26) that the five-member boy band will be headlining the Los Angeles edition of the Hallyu fan convention.

The announcement came just three months after the quintet appeared at their first show in the states since 2014 at the Korea Times Festival, also in LA.

Since debuting their first mini-album Replay in 2008, SHINee have raised the K-pop game worldwide with their innovative music and highly synchronised choreography. Their hits “Replay”, “Lucifer” and “View” climbed up the K-charts, winning the boys numerous awards, tours, as well as their own reality shows.

Band member Jonghyun recently released his first full-length solo album She Is, which is dominating both domestic and international iTunes charts. We’re yet to learn if fans will get to see title track “She Is” performed in the US for the first time.

The 11-member girl group I.O.I, or “Ideals of Idols,” will be joining SHINee at the convention as the fourth female act to be added to this year KCON LA.

The girls are still new to the stage, having only been formed earlier this year after defeating over 100 girls at the Produce 101 television show. Nevertheless, I.O.I have released several successful bubble-pop numbers, including “Crush,” “Pick Me,” and “Dream Girls.”
