After years of anticipation, SOS is back with their sophomore album, It Was A Moment—a record that marks not just a new era for the band, but a deeper, more thoughtful approach to their music. If their debut Whatever That Was captured the restless energy of youth, It Was A Moment reflects a band that has grown—not just in sound, but in perspective.
Unlike their first album, which was shaped by the sweat and spontaneity of live shows, It Was A Moment is more like a carefully crafted experiment. “Whatever That Was is a product of constant road-testing and weekly bar shows,” says Andrew. “This one was more of a lab experiment.” The result? A refined yet expansive sound—layered with synths and keys while still holding onto their signature anthemic guitars.
Lyrically, the album shows a more observant SOS. Instead of just reacting to life’s chaos, they’re stepping back, taking it in, and writing about it with a mix of nostalgia, curiosity, and wisdom. “We employed the ‘art of noticing,’” says Seña, capturing the band’s more introspective approach.
The album features 11 tracks, including previously released songs like Seryoso, Please Lang, Roses, and long-time fan-favorite Amore. The lead single, Yumi & The Apocalypse, sets the tone for an album that balances personal reflections with broader existential themes.
Each song explores different shades of growth, love, and the passage of time. Tracks like I’m Kidding and Money grapple with weariness and responsibility, while Yumi & The Apocalypse and It’s History fight off cynicism with hope. French Exit reminds us that sometimes, the best decision is to walk away, while Love Kept Us Warm makes a case for sticking things out.
And then there’s the title track, It Was A Moment—a powerful closer that acts as a love letter to SOS fans. With callbacks to past eras and a more adventurous sound, it embodies everything that makes SOS special: evolution without losing the heart of what made them great in the first place.
Following the album’s release, the band is ready to hit the road. “We’re planning on touring around Metro Manila first and hopefully a few shows outside if time permits,” shares King. “We just want to share our journey as SOS and hopefully have the album resonate with people who need to hear these new songs.”
Recorded at their Bavarian Studios in La Union and fine-tuned with the help of trusted collaborators, It Was A Moment isn’t just an album—it’s a statement. SOS is no longer the band from their bar-gig days. They’re bigger, bolder, and more intentional than ever.
And if this album is any indication, they’re just getting started.
