English Pop-rockers Lawson are back with another fast-paced, stylish pop number – ‘Animals’!

Formed in 2009 and comprising of members Andy Brown (lead vocals), Joel Peat (guitar), Ryan Fletcher (bass), and Adam Pitts (drums), the band have enjoyed a phenomenal breakthrough, releasing five Top 10 singles and the Gold-certified debut album ‘Chapman Square’, playing shows with pop icons Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Take That.

Last month the group released their catchy song ‘Lovers’ – their first single in four years!

‘Animals’ is upbeat and fresh, taking clear influences from current pop acts such as The 1975 and Lauv.

Said lead vocalist Andy Brown,

“Myself and Ryan from the band wrote and produced the track. It’s 80s inspired, about wanting something you can’t have, and how we all have that animal instinct inside us. It was one of the first tracks we wrote for the album and set the tone for that style amongst the rest of the tracks.”

We at AsiaLive365 definitely reckon that ‘Animals’ is a banger of a hit!

The new sound feels like rolling 80s vibes that ripple through you as you feel its colours blow through your hair while riding in an open-hood car through the wide open road.

The song sparks and crackles in its electric retro vibes, reminding you of one of those wonderful 80s young romance movies – ‘Say Anything’, ‘Sixteen Candles’, ‘Some Kind Of Wonderful’.

It’s a song that sweeps you off your feet, brings you out for an adventure, before dropping you back home (safe and sound), full of the inundating youth and life of another time…

Listen to the song here and tell us what you think!

‘Animals’ will be accompanied by a fun tongue-in-cheek video featuring a celebrity cameo – be released shortly!

With ‘Lovers’, Lawson hit the ground running after their four-year hiatus. The music video charted at #1 on iTunes, amassing over 90k views on YouTube. The audio track is streaming in excess of 400k. With five of the band’s Top 10 Cities on Spotify and six of their Top 10 Countries by YouTube viewership located in Asia, ‘Lovers’ has received much attention from media outlets across the region.

The band reunited from their hiatus in 2018 to headline a show at Shepherd’s Bush Empire, which sold out in a matter of minutes. Still the best of friends, the reaction they received inspired them to start a new chapter in their career.

As Andy recalls fondly,

“I think the look on people’s faces and the fun we all had together that night made us realise how much we love and miss our fans and each other. We have all been busy with different things the past few years but it felt like now was the perfect time to get back in the studio and just enjoy making music together again.”

That return gathered pace when they shared the tongue-in-cheek documentary ‘Lawson – Where Are They Now?’. A playful parody of the music doc, the video featured guests including Robbie Williams, Rick Astley and Radio 1’s Scott Mills, and quickly started trending on Twitter.

Four years is a long time in music, but Lawson’s absence has produced a mature, refined and exciting new sound. Newly signed to Cooking Vinyl, they’re set to add to a career which has already encompassed 50 million streams on Spotify and 100 million views on YouTube.
