The show is part of The xx’s I See You Tour in support of an album with the same name. The other Asia date so far is Fuji Rock Festival on July 28. With a prolific indie promoter in Bangkok saying they have four more shows in store this year, here’s to hoping The xx will finally make their debut there.

Formed in London in 2005, The xx are Romy Madley Croft (vocals, lead guitar), Oliver Sim (vocals, bass guitar), and Jamie Smith or Jamie xx (beats, MPC sampler). The trio rose from obscurity to win the 2010 Mercury Prize for their self-produced debut album xx, sparking a worldwide penchant for their original and intimate sound.

Their 2012 followup album Coexist expands on this signature sound and tender minimalist style, most evident in the beautifully fragile lead track “Angels”. In their latest offering 2017’s I See You, the trio reveal themselves exploring a more playful, eclectic and expansive musical direction, winning over critics and fans alike with singles such as “On Hold” and “Say Something Loving”.
