The German-based artists, separated by lockdown, produced the track from their homes and performed it together at German nightclub Index’s drive-in rave show on May 16. The music video, released on May 29, features clips from the performance.
Clocking in at three minutes, the track features Majan’s soulful vocals coupled with DJ-producer duo VIZE’s house music elements and electro house producer Tujamo’s signature trumpets and fanfares.
The message behind the track captures the current situation of the world while giving listeners hope that this soon will all be over. Each of the three artists spent their time developing the track from their homes in three different cities, as noted in the music video, sending each other elements until the track was complete.
In early May, the German government announced the reopening of drive-in cinemas, ushering in a new trend of live music events that adhere to social distancing measures. As a result, the four artists gathered at German nightclub Index’s drive-in rave show on May 16 and performed the track together during their live set.
Check out the music video for ‘Lonely’, which features clips from the drive-in concert as well as taking a look at their creative process of the track while under quarantine.
‘Lonely’ follows Tujamo’s recent single, ‘One Million’, with LOTTEN back in March. True to its title, the bouncy track gained 1 million streams on Spotify since its release.
Last year, VIZE were nominated for a 1LIVE Krone Award for “Best Dance Act” alongside long time collaborator Felix Jaehn. The house music producer duo have recently collaborated with DJ Alle Farben on their house music take on MGMT’s classic track ‘Kids’ with singer Graham Candy taking vocal duties, and Tom Gregory on ‘Never Let Me Down’.
‘Lonely’ singer Majan first gained recognition the track ‘1975’ with Cro. The hip-hop artist’s five-track EP ‘BOI’ was released in late March and can be streamed on Spotify here:
