It was a night to remember for Universal Records at the 37th Awit Awards! The prestigious event, held at the Music Museum in Greenhills last December 4, celebrated the best in the Philippine music industry. Universal Records walked away with four major awards, proving once again why they’re a powerhouse in local music.

The iconic Parokya ni Edgar received the Dangal ng Musikang Pilipino award, a fitting tribute to their unmatched contributions to OPM (Original Pilipino Music). With countless hits that have become staples in every Filipino’s playlist, the band’s dedication to keeping the spirit of Philippine music alive was celebrated with this special recognition.

Rap and hip-hop had their moment too! Universal Records’ own Shanti Dope won the Best Rap/Hip Hop Recording award for his hit single “Bad Type.” The track, with its cutting-edge sound and bold lyrics, continues to push boundaries in the local music scene.

The magic of collaboration was highlighted when Gloc-9 and Gary Valenciano bagged the Best Collaboration award for their emotional and powerful track “Walang Pumapalakpak.” Their partnership showed how different musical styles can come together to create something truly extraordinary.

One of the evening’s most heartfelt moments was when Universal Records Executive Vice-President Ramon Chuaying received the Lifetime Achievement Award. As a leader and visionary in the Philippine music industry, his decades of work have shaped the careers of countless artists and elevated OPM on both local and international stages.

Universal Records ended the night with well-deserved recognition and a renewed commitment to promoting Filipino talent.

Congratulations to Universal Records and all the awardees for making the 37th Awit Awards a celebration of artistry, collaboration, and the enduring power of music! 🎵
