American four-piece Warpaint are set to jumpstart Jakarta’s 2017 alternative scene with an art rock-charged show on February 17.
The Californian outfit, having wrapped up a UK tour in November, will put on their first show of 2017 and the only one in Southeast Asia at Jakarta’s Parkir Selatan Senayan before playing a string of headlining shows in Australia and Japan.
Indonesian acts Kimokal, Diocreatura, and Troü are confirmed to support.
This will be a debut performance in Indonesia for Warpaint, who were meant to perform in 2011 but the show was unexpectedly cancelled.
The tour is in support of the band’s third and latest LP, Heads Up, which was released last September as a followup to 2012’s self-titled album.
Critics and Laneway-revellers’ favourite, Warpaint formed in 2004 in Los Angeles. The lineup now consists of Emily Kokal (vocals, guitar), Theresa Wayman (guitar, vocals) and Jenny Lee Lindberg (bass, backing vocals), and Stella Mozgawa (drums).
