Although Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards were all about achievements in, well, movies, it’s undeniable the show’s highlights go to great live performances from pop powerhouses like Ariana Grande and Halsey.
Ariana Grande brought Burbank’s Warner Bros. Studios down with a jazzy rendition of latest single “Dangerous Woman”.
Ariana Grande hasn’t forgot her Broadway roots
In a hot pink gown and white fur drape, the 22-year-old diva embraced the old Hollywood vibe and channelled Marilyn Monroe in 1953’s Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Accompanying her on the piano was Jason Robert Brown, who wrote the musical “13: The Musical”, in which Grande starred in 2008.
Equally regal was Halsey’s performance of her song “Castle“, which is featured in The Huntsman: Winter’s War, the latest instalment of The Huntsman franchise.
The 21-year-old electro-pop singer hit the stage in a sleek white cape and cut-out bodysuit. She was introduced by Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth and Jessica Chastain, who star in the blockbuster movie.
