What We Love This Week: December 6, 2015

There’s a bajillion things going on in music weekly. Want to know just what really bewitched, bothered and bewildered AL365 staff? Go on then, scroll down!

1. 4th Impact still making an impact

This Filipino girl group may have been eliminated last week on the X Factor UK, finishing in fifth place, but they’re still the talk of the town. Or of our headquarters, at least! Fans of the fantastic four–Almira, Irene, Myrene and Celina–needn’t be sad because they’re coming back to tour across the country with with the show’s other Top 7, beginning next February. Don’t want to wait that long? Um, we can’t really help you with that but if it helps, you can watch them putting their Queen Bey on again here:

2. San Cisco and The Naked and Famous complete Wanderland 2016’s lineup

Wanderland Arts and Music Fest/San Cisco
Wanderland Arts and Music Festival 2016 sure looks like it’s going to be the best edition of the festival yet. Supporting headliners Death Cab For Cutie and Bon Iver next year in Manila are Australian quartet San Cisco and New Zealand’s The Naked and Famous. Birmingham-based electro-pop artist Chad Valley is also confirmed to join the already packed and exciting lineup. The show will happen on March 5, 2016 at the Globe Circuit Events Ground, Makati City. Get your tickets here.

3. Sounds from Deutschland: HONIG and Jonas David

We think Sofar Sounds Bangkok just got us hooked on these two acts from Germany…

First thing though, if you’re not familiar with Sofar Sounds, they’re a global network of artists and music lovers who are bringing real intimacy back to live shows (where did it go? We don’t know, but you can read more about Sofar here). Normally Sofar would hold secret gigs in different corners of the city but last Wednesday (Dec 2) the show was open to anyone interested. There we got to see German singer-songwriters Jonas David and Stefan Honig (from HONIG) collaborate. And when they played “For Those Lost At Sea”, we swear all was right in the world. It was the most perfekt 30-minute trance we’ve ever experienced. Seriously, this is the best from Sofar Sounds Bangkok yet.

4. Ketchup, ketchup on everything

If you’re one to put ketchup on pretty much everything from junk pieces of hash brown to a perfectly good gourmet charcoal-bun vegan burger, you’re not alone. You’ve got us. And you’ve got your Australian dream-pop prince Troye Sivan. How do we know, you ask? Well, ‘cos in the video he collaborated with Vevo LIFT he reveals he’s #TeamKetch all the way when it comes to his “most favourite food ever” like Mac ‘n Cheese. If Troye thinks that fancy bowl of Mac ‘n Cheese he makes there still needs some Heinz, our “Wild” preference doesn’t need any other raison d’être.

5. Very Swifty holiday!

Ms. Swift is currently having the holiday of our dreams, to be quite honest. Between each performance in Australian cities supported by Vance Joy, Taylor embarks on a series of outdoorsy, down under fun. And much like at her shows, she needs her squad with her. Only this time they’re especially cute and cuddly. (Yes, we mean Blake Lively, too!).
