XG, the hip-hop/R&B-inspired girl group that’s been taking the music world by storm, made their groundbreaking debut at the legendary Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival 2025. Held in California, Coachella is one of the largest and most iconic music festivals in the world, with past headliners like Lady Gaga, Green Day, and Post Malone. But this year, XG not only performed but also made history as the only Japanese artist to headline the event!
On April 13th and April 20th, XG closed out the night on the SAHARA STAGE, delivering a high-energy performance to an audience of 30,000 people over the two weekends. The group was decked out in custom Coachella outfits, setting the stage for an unforgettable show that had the crowd buzzing long after the final note.
Their performance kicked off with their track “HESONOO + X-GENE” from their debut mini-album NEW DNA, immediately setting the tone with an intense mix of hip hop beats and smooth R&B vibes. But it wasn’t just their music that wowed the crowd. When XG dropped their viral hit “WOKE UP”, the crowd went wild. This all-rap single had already taken over the Global Japan Songs chart for nine straight weeks and trended on YouTube in 19 countries!
As the performance progressed, XG stunned everyone with “GRL GVNG”, a track that made history by becoming the first song by a Japanese artist to top the Billboard Hot Trending Songs chart. Their dynamic chair routine for this track had everyone in the audience hooked, watching in awe as the group seamlessly blended vocals, rap, and choreography.
Next up, the group performed “LEFT RIGHT”, a record-breaking song that charted for an incredible 13 weeks on the US Mediabase Top 40 Radio Airplay—marking the longest streak for any Asian girl group.
But the excitement didn’t stop there. The setlist included “TGIF”, “PUPPET SHOW”, “MASCARA”, and “IYKYK”, each track elevating the energy even higher. The audience was fully immersed in every beat, especially when they heard “IS THIS LOVE”, which had originally gone viral through a collaboration with Shiseido’s Anessa campaign.
For the grand finale, XG brought out their hit “SHOOTING STAR”, delivering an explosive end to an already epic performance. The crowd’s reaction? Completely electrified.

XG is currently on their first world tour, XG 1st WORLD TOUR – The First HOWL, which is taking them to 35 cities in 18 countries and regions. The tour kicked off in Japan in May 2024, with stops in São Paulo and Mexico City before wrapping up with a massive finale at Tokyo Dome on May 14th, 2025. To top it all off, they’ll be releasing a brand new single, “MILLION PLACES”, on the same day!
