Have You Heard? proved their amazing and sharp management with Johnnie Walker presents Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals over last Monday (Jul 23). The show was, indeed, wicked.

The music promoter has ,so far, never let Bangkok’s music slaves down, especially with their latest concert happening on Monday, July 23. Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals  deserved more than our 5-star review and a big applause.

The crowd was heated up first with a compilation of old-school to contemporary R&B from DJYP. The guy is quite big among party throwers. Guaranteed by the disk jokey’s fame, people got their hips and heads swung along the set.

However, the real craziness started to kick in when Soybad popped up on stage. The trio slayed the show with their rhyme and rhythm before handing the stage to JUU and his crew. That signature move of Blocboy JB is undoubtedly spotted now and then— both on stage and the front rows.

Anderson .Paak and his band mates The Free Nationals completely stole the show since their first appearance. The exhilaration seemed to escalate to the next level immediately with “Come Down”. The fans screamed when hearing the intro before singing along the song.

Paak paused the performance a bit to give his fans some greeting messages. He requested the audience to light up the hall with their flashlights before continuing this memorable night with “The Waters”.

Touring with The Free Nationals, Paak and his friends served the fresh arrangement of the singer’s selected setlist to the audience. This is not just another hip-hop gig. All the songs were well crafted either with the blend of guitar roars, classy piano touches or some jazz or blue rhythm. The band’s creativity was completely beyond the audience’s anticipation judging by the frequently-heard “Wow” and “Woah” among the crowd.

“Glowed Up” was followed by the singer’s latest track “Bubblin”. The crowd screamed and shouted the words delightedly throughout the act. Paak, again, stunned the crowd at the outro with his drums solo. Besides the recent hit, the band also slayed the night with  some tenderly groovy pieces “Season / Carry Me” and “Put Me Thru”.

Meanwhile, the crowd got to strutted their stuff with no shame again with “Heart don’t stand a chance”, “Sweet Gidget”, “Room in here”, “Til It’s Over”, “Miss Right”, “Suede”, “Am I Wrong”, “Lite Weight” and “Luh You”. These were supposed to be the whole setlist of the night, however, the crowd wouldn’t let Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals get off the stage that easy.

“One more song! One more Song!” the whole room went. Irresistible to the voices, Paak and his band granted the audience’s wish with two more songs— “The Bird” and “Dreamer”. And before signing off the stage, “Bangkok, you’re amazing. It’s such a pleasure to be here. We love you” Paak went before ending the night with a promise to return to the city ASAP.

Throughout the show, Paak found his ways to get the audience to never stand still. He just had that magic to get us stayed beyond willingly to do whatever he asked us to do. Also, all the performers were so full of energy and talented in so many ways. It’s quite rare to see the real good artists who can equally be the real good entertainers up on stage.

Up until now, I still cannot find the exact words to express my appreciation and impression towards that night. Millions thanks to Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals to give all the mondays haters (me included) an extraordinarily graceful Monday to remember. I’m quite certain that this concert has been imprinted on lots of people’s hearts as one of the best show ever in a lifetime.

Special thanks to Johnnie Walker and HAVE YOU HEARD?.
