Since his departure from Girls in 2012, Owens has been recording music independently, attempting through his writing to confront in reflection the realities of his childhood. He has released three solo albums to date, namely Lysandre (2013), A New Testament (2014), and Chrissybaby Forever (2015). He also got his name in lights for his acoustic shows and refusal to perform in festivals to keep the intimacy.
