Weaving the heartfelt energy of soul with the playful rhythms of electro funk, veteran pop-R&B artist James Reid’s ‘Soda’ seamlessly blends these elements together to create an electronically fizzy yet laidback groove.
‘Soda’ marks the first track of upcoming singles for Filipino-Australian singer James Reid’s comeback into the music scene. The song embodies the carefree feeling of embarking on a journey, cruising down the highway with one hand out the car window and wind in your hair.
James says,
“Despite the chaos and tragedy that was 2020, it really challenged me and forced me to evolve in more ways than just music. So there’s been a silver lining. I made this song as a reflection of that perspective. Learning to ride the highs and the lows. The future is unknown, so all we can do is have enough self awareness to make the most out of life’s surprises.”
James Reid, who rose to prominence as an actor with the 2014 Philippine romantic comedy Diary ng Paget, has released three albums in his music career. The artist’s latest album, 2017’s Palm Dreams, is the first to be released under his indie record label Careless Music.
Palm Dreams has gained critical acclaim and was featured on Billboard’s Independent Albums chart.
With a decade-long career and experience as an entertainer in the Philippines, the artist has earned multiple awards (MYX Music Awards, MTV EMA) and has appeared in several Philippine TV shows and movies including On the Wings of Love (2015–16), Till I Met You (2016–17), This Time (2016), and Never Not Love You (2018), among others.
The Filipino singer has continued to use his platform to help grow the country’s music industry.
