The exciting new album makes it the sixth album from the American singer who has brought us hits such as ‘Bad Romance’, ‘Poker Face’, ‘Alejandro’, and ‘Shallow’, the latter of which came from the 2018 film ‘A Star Is Born’ which also stars Bradley Cooper.
Originally planned for a release on April 10, the album’s date was pushed back for seven weeks to May 29, due to COVID-19. It serves as a follow-up to Gaga’s fifth studio album, Joanne which was released in 2016.
It features collaborations with Ariana Grande, BLACKPINK, and Elton John.
Last week, Gaga also released her collab song with Ariana Grande entitled ‘Rain On Me’.
The catchy 90s house-inspired sound was shot pre-quarantine and features an elaborate and electric set of choreography, eclectic costumes and all, in well…the rain!
Outdoing themselves, the duo then filmed a “lockdown” version of the song in their homes – with hilarious results.
Describing Chromatica as a location in her mind where all sounds and colors mix, the singer, songwriter, producer and actress said this:
“I live on Chromatica, that is where I live. I went into my frame. I found Earth, I deleted it. Earth is canceled. I live on Chromatica.”
The dystopian planet of Chromatica appears in the music video for the song ‘Stupid Love’, which was released in February. It features Gaga portraying a warrior leader, and “follows a narrative about tribes battling for dominance in a world riddled with conflict”.
The video shot entirely on the iPhone 11 Pro has had over 86 million views on YouTube to date.
Chromatica is certainly a vibrant new album with dance-like high energy numbers and electric vibes to bring life into the somewhat mundaneness of “lockdown”.
Songs like ‘911′, ‘Alice’, and ‘Sour Candy’ give us a rhythm of life and breath of fresh air, while ‘1000 Doves’ feels like the culminating piece in a show where thousands of confetti are released!
