Indie-dance duo Phantoms drop their first single of the year with ‘Lay It All On Me’ featuring UK-based singer Jem Cooke, out now via ODESZA’s Foreign Family Collective.

‘Lay It All On Me’, the first 2022 single from Phantoms, explores the human desire to escape from daily routine and seek out more.

The track was previously teased during the group’s live sets last year, and is their first track released via electronic music veteran ODESZA’s Foreign Family Collective.

Phantoms explain,

“‘Lay It All On Me’ is one of the first songs we wrote with the incredibly talented Jem Cooke while on a writing trip to London early last year. It was one of those occasions when the song came together extremely fast – all the vocals were written and recorded in an afternoon. Jem’s vocal is so beautiful we wanted the music to compliment it first and foremost. We went with a mix of chugging tribal drums, warm piano and analog bass, trying to find a space between organic and electronic. It’s really supposed to make you feel like you’re lost somewhere dark but it’s all going to be okay.”

Comprising of members Kyle Kaplan and Vinnie Pergola, Phantoms are a live electronic act who have become prevalent within the alternative electronica scene.

Their 2016 debut EP, Broken Halo, led to their signing to Republic/Casablanca resulting in the release of their 2017 self-titled LP.

2019 saw the release of the duo’s seven-track Disconnect’ EP, which included chart-topping singles ‘Say It’ and ‘Designs For You’. The tracks earned support from Pete Tong, Diplo, Duke Dumont, Jai Wolf, Martin Garrix and many more.

In October, the group released the Moonlight EP, which featured a cover of Aaliyah’s ‘One In A Million’ and electro-pop tunes ‘Moonlight and ‘Want To Know’.
