Sundanese surf-rockers The Panturas are back with a splash! The Indonesian alternative indie quartet has released their brand-new EP, Galura Tropikalia on November 22, 2024. Alongside this exciting release comes their latest single, Béntang Sagara, and news of an exclusive Southeast Asian tour in 2025. While full tour details are yet to be unveiled, the buzz is already building.

Galura Tropikalia marks an adventurous chapter for The Panturas. Known for their beachy surf-rock beats, this time they’re diving deeper into their roots, blending the rhythmic sounds of 60s surf rock with traditional Sundanese instruments. Every track is sung in the Sundanese language, creating a rich tapestry of sounds that bridges heritage and modernity.

The band describes the EP as “a new wave in our musical journey” and a tribute to their Sundanese homeland. “This is more than just music; it’s about rediscovering and celebrating the familiar,” they share. “We’re incredibly grateful to release this album in various formats. The entire process has been incredibly enjoyable. At the very least, we have created an album in the Sundanese language in the history of our discography.”

Hailing from Jatinangor, Bandung—better known for its folk music roots—The Panturas have carved a unique space for themselves in Indonesia’s music scene. With influences from surf rock legends like Dick Dale and The Ventures, as well as local classics such as Kwartet Bintang and Eka Sapta, the band delivers a fresh take on surf music, infused with an unmistakable Indonesian identity.

The Panturas burst onto the scene in 2018 with their EP Mabuk Laut, which made waves in the local indie circuit. Their debut full-length album, Ombak Banyu Asmara (2021), cemented their place as one of Indonesia’s most exciting bands, earning them spots at major festivals and fans across the archipelago.

Now, in 2024, The Panturas are pushing boundaries once again with Galura Tropikalia. It’s not just music—it’s a cultural journey that blends Sundanese pentatonic scales with their signature surf-rock vibes.

With Galura Tropikalia setting the stage, The Panturas are gearing up for an exclusive Southeast Asian tour in 2025. This promises to be more than just a showcase of their latest work—it’s an opportunity to experience their electric energy and genre-defying sound live.

Stay tuned for tour updates and catch The Panturas as they bring their unique blend of tradition and modernity to audiences across the region. In the meantime, dive into Béntang Sagara and let their surf-inspired rhythms carry you away.
