Pop starlet Alaina Castillo reveals her vulnerable side with new song, ‘wish you were here’.

‘wish you were here’, the new single by Alaina Castillo, describes the feeling of loneliness – something that is relatable to millions of people living under lockdown for the past year during the current global pandemic.

The introspective ballad, wrapped in intense emotional vulnerability, reveals a part of the singer’s personal thoughts.

Alaina explains,

“‘wish you were here’ is a song I wrote during quarantine when I really just needed that one person to get me through things but they weren’t there. the days felt longer and the nights felt endless in their absence. it showed me that nothing was enough to cover up them not being there.”

The track follows her debut LP, parallel universe pt 1, a collection of dark R&B ballads and catchy pop anthems that sees the singer overcoming obstacles while growing up.

She has developed a rapid following, especially across Asia. The songwriter embarked on a “Virtual Tour” across Southeast Asia last month in an effort to connect with her fans.

During the tour, her fans gave song recommendations for the singer to perform including unique renditions of ‘lowkey’ by NIKI, ‘All That’ by Ylona Garcia, and ‘Hoodie’ by Lunadira and Reddi Rocket.
