Having recently announced their gig in Manila in early February, the American pop punk and pop rock band have (as of Valentine’s night) also added Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Cebu to their list!
Formed in 2005, Boys Like Girls gained mainstream recognition when they released their self-titled album in 2006, which went on to sell over 700,000 albums in the United States earning a Gold Record from the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America). Between 2006 and 2013, the band toured widely and even co-headlined with Good Charlotte for the Soundtrack of Your Summer Tour 2008.
They released their second album ‘Love Drunk’ in 2009 and their third album ‘Crazy World’ in 2012. Their second album “Love Drunk” features other applauded artists like Taylor Swift in “Two is Better Than One” and Ashley Tisdale in their “Love Drunk” music video.
Last in Singapore in July 2012 (with Korean girl group 4Minute) as part The Star Concert for The Straits Times 167th Anniversary, the band also played their solo gig here in January 2010, which also made them the first to play at the then newly-opened Resorts World Compass Ballroom.
Known for their nostalgic hits such as ‘The Great Escape’, ‘Thunder’, ‘Hero/Heroine’, ‘Love Drunk’, which many of us in our late 20s to 30s will remember listening and emo-ing to during our university and college years, it looks like we’re about to hear them all again!
The band recently embarked on a tour to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of their first album in August 2016, and come April – Asia’s next on this BLG Tour!
Boys Like Girls will play in Singapore at 222 Arts Club on 12 April.
The gig in Singapore is brought to you by the good folks of Skesh Entertainment.
So what are we waiting for? Paper bags and plastic hearts, let’s plan our Great Escape with Boys Like Girls now! Tickets go on sale 22nd February at 10am via SKESH.
