Sorrow clouds the Internet as YouTube star and The Voice 2014 contestant Christina Grimmie was confirmed dead after being shot by a gunman outside her Florida concert venue Friday night, local time.

The 22-year-old talent had performed at The Plaza Live with punk band Before You Exit and was signing autographs to fans before the fatal moment. Orlando police confirmed in a press conference on Saturday (June 11) the shooter, who shot himself afterwards, had travelled from another city specifically for the event and did not know Grimmie personally. He could have been a “deranged fan”.

The killer was identified as Kevin James Loibl though his motive is still unknown. Police chief John Mina said they were looking into his telephone and computer for more information.

Meanwhile, Adam Levine, Grimmie’s Voice coach, along with celebrities and fellow YouTube stars have taken to social media to express grief and sending their thoughts to the family of the singer. See below.
