The American ambient pop band, with their stardust-like tones and dream pop vibes took to social media early this morning on 26 May (GMT +8) to release a surprise new single for all of us!
Announcing that the single would be “released at midnight everywhere”, the announcement also came close to 2am, which was definitely past midnight in Asia.
Now that was a ‘Sweet’ surprise!
Like the whisperer of our hearts this lockdown, the new song ‘You’re All I Want’ is a gossamer of dreamy guitars and keyboards, and features frontman Greg Gonzalez’s signature, slow and sultry vocals that seem to dress the atmosphere in an iridescent silhouette of stasis.
The song is also the first song released this 2020, since their sophomore album Cry last year, which included the beautifully poignant and heartstrings-pulling track of the same name.
Known for their songs such as ‘Nothing’s Gonna Hurt You Baby’, ‘Apocalypse’, and ‘K’, the band were last in Singapore in 2018 for the Neon Lights Festival, where they played in the pouring rain, and then earlier in August 2017 for a solo gig at Capitol Theatre.
The band are set to continue their European tour from late June – September.
It is uncertain if the brand new single is part of a bigger album or EP, but one thing’s for sure.
We’re definitely ‘Falling In Love’ with the band all over again…
