Consisting of NYC-based singer-songwriter Amy Douglas and Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard, HARD FEELINGS share their first single ‘Holding On Too Long’.

The collaborative project was born after Joe Goddard, co-founder and vocalist of English synthpop group Hot Chip, reached out to Amy Douglas via Twitter with the message, “Amy, can we make a thing?”

HARD FEELINGS is described as “seated fluidly at the intersections of New Wave and Synthpop-inspired pop music and full-on dance majesty”.

The duo’s first single, ‘Holding On Too Long’, explore the pains and devastations from the demise of a romantic relationship. Amy’s vocals and lyricism are juxtaposed with Joe’s euphoric bass and piano hook.

They have also shared the single’s MV, directed by Katie Paul and starring Amy herself.

Amy notes,

“’Holding On Too Long’ is the common denominator of the entire musical union of Amy and Joe. In this “opera of sad bangers” here is its key aria, its “Un Bel Di” from Madame Butterfly or the “Mad Scene” from Lucia Di Lammermour, the unforgettable moment of the story wherein our heroine stands up defiantly and has her moment to wail, scream and cry her pain and fury centre stage to the world.”

Amy Douglas has earned her reputation across the house and disco scenes with her striking, distinctive voice and stellar songwriting, becoming the ‘go-to’ vocalist for many a dance music tracks.

She has worked with artists including Luke Solomon, The Crooked Man, and Horse Meat Disco as well as having recently written ‘Something More’ for Roisin Murphy’s latest album Roisin Machine.

Joe Goddard is a well-known figure in the electronic music world with a broad discography of sounds ranging from house, techno, and disco to UK garage, R&B, and electro-pop. He is best known as one of the members of the electronic band Hot Chip and one half of The 2 Bears.
