The talented Thai-German artist has dropped a remix of her popular dance-pop anthem ‘Passcode’ featuring Thai rapper F. Hero.

Jannine Weigel, the blossoming Thai-German singer, has released a remix of her latest single, ‘Passcode’. The remix features rapping vocals by prominent Thai rapper F. Hero.

‘Passcode’, released last September, has been a smash hit for the 20-year-old singer. The track’s music video garnered over one million views on YouTube in its first two weeks, with four million views as of today.

The euphoric dance-pop anthem is featured on major playlists across the region. A raft of notable TikTok users, including Darren Espanto and Bertrand Tio, have created videos using the song’s exhilarating sound and the #passcodechallenge hashtag has garnered 2.4 million views since release.

The music video was directed by directed by Philip Rom Kulleh, and was shot and produced in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Several Malaysian and Thai TikTok influencers are featured in the video alongside Weigel.

 

‘Passcode’ is also the debut release of new label RedRecords, a joint venture between AirAsia and Universal Music Group, with Weigel being their first artist signing.

She says,

“I couldn’t believe it when I found out RedRecords wanted me to be their first signing. It felt surreal, knowing that an international company had recognized me, a young girl based in Bangkok who started off doing covers on YouTube.”

Prior to her signing, Weigel operated independently. She continues,

“My fans are going to love all the incredible surprises that we have in store for them. I cannot wait for them to hear my new music,” she says. “I feel like I’m proof that as long as you never give up, anyone can have a shot at achieving their dreams, no matter where they come from. Don’t ever let anyone tell you what you want to achieve is impossible.”

The single was produced by Mr. Franks, John O, and Tommy Brown, the latter behind the production of all six studio albums by renowned American singer Ariana Grande. Fitting as Jannine Weigel has been dubbed Asia’s Ariana Grande.

Born in Germany and moved to Thailand at the young age of 10, Jannine Weigel (aka Ploychompoo) first made waves when she uploaded cover versions of her favorite songs to her YouTube channel.

Her covers gained global attention, most notably her rendition of Charlie Puth’s ‘See You Again’ which was shared by celebrities such as Ashton Kutcher and Lil Wayne.

She explains,

“The amazing support I received from people watching and commenting on my videos really gave me the push to pursue my dream of becoming a singer. Their support and positivity inspired me to become a full-fledged artist.”

Her YouTube success has led her to become the first Thai singer to receive the video-sharing website’s highly coveted Gold Button.

Her irresistible voice and infectious personality has earned her over three million subscribers on YouTube, three million followers on Facebook, one million on Instagram and more than 570,000 on TikTok.
