Known to all as one of the hottest getaway destinations, Thailand’s Koh Samui is finally getting its own music and lifestyle festival starting next year.
Described as a two-day music, arts, and culture festival, Paradise Island Festival will be held from January 7-8, 2017 on Big Buddha Beach.
Wonderfruit 2016 reveals headliners and first wave of lineup
The festival has recruited international artists across genres, including Long Island hip-hop trio De La Soul, Brit DJ Goldie, D&B producer LTJ Bukem, EDM duo Maribou State, dub and jungle O.G. Mad Professor, and Japanese electronic prodigy Anchorsong. Stay tuned for the complete lineup.
Brought to us by UK-based organiser Soundcrash, the same crew behind Croatia’s Soundwave and England’s Funk & Soul Weekender, the festival promises to showcase Thai culture, traditional music and performance art. Guests will be able to join various workshops, from yoga sessions to Thai cooking classes.
What’s more, Paradise Island Festival will also feature regular island festival activities like boat parties, scratch DJ comps, and let’s not forget secret afterparties.
Quest Festival 2016 returns to Vietnam this November
According to Soundcrash. “Paradise Island is an eco-conscious and environmentally friendly alternative to the Full Moon parties” and has more focus on “art, music and responsible tourism.”
The festival is set to promote responsible tourism, nature conservation programs and reforestation schemes as an attempt to help conserve the island.
