The Grammy-nominated experimental band has shared an artistic visual music video for their funkadelic jam ‘Silence Is Golden’.

Funky jazz band Lettuce has shared their eye-catching music video for their instrumental track ‘Silence Is Golden’ from their new album Resonate.

Created by Black Baloon Media (My Chemical Romance, Bebe Rexha, Neil Young, Josh Groban), the animated MV of the funky tune brings the storybook visuals to life.

Guitarist Adam “Shmeeans” Smirnoff says,

“With this video, we want to take you on a visually stunning, colorful journey into a fantastic storybook-like world that invokes peace and inspires creativity. We want to make the connection resonate between ourselves, nature, and the spirit that binds us all together. Lett us present, ‘Silence is Golden’.”

Director Brad Strickman adds,

“You can just imagine the colors as the song goes from dreamy and trance-like to energetic and explosive. A total dream project for an illustrator. We really enjoyed bringing this video to life for Lettuce and their management team. The song has such a great vibe and, right from the beginning, we loved their concept of nature and music connecting us all.”

Drummer Adam Deitch also adds,

“The connection of nature to music is essential to understand.  The sound of the leaves swaying in the soft breeze along with the crickets and birds singing, can be very inspiring. This song represents a quiet place that resides in all of our minds that can bring peace to our souls. Lettuce meditate to the golden silence.”

Resonate marks Lettuce’s seventh album in their vast discography, and has peaked at #1 on the iTunes Top Jazz Albums charts in multiple countries and amassed nearly 4 million streams in total.

The album serves as a continuation to their Grammy-nominated album Elevate from last year, which earned the band their first nomination for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album.

The 11-track album features singles ‘House of Lett’, ‘NDUGU’, and ‘Checker Wrecker’. The latter features Big Tony Fisher and Tyrone “Jungle Boogie” Williams of renowned funk and R&B bands Trouble Funk and Rare Essence.

The album, produced by esteemed sound engineer Russ Elevado (D’Angelo, The Roots, Erykkah Badu), deftly blends jazz chords, psychedelic passages, big horns, strains of soul and hip-hop elements into one eclectic, experimental record.

Lettuce consists of veteran musicians Adam Deitch (drums, percussion), Adam “Shmeeans” Smirnoff (guitar), Erick “Jesus” Coomes (bass), Ryan Zoidis (alto, baruitone, tenor sax), Eric “Benny” Bloom (trumpet, horns), and Nigel Hall (vocals, keyboards).

The group has been praised for their versatility in blending genres, drawing acclaim from publications such as NPR, New York Times, Consequence of Sound, among others.
