Indonesian songstress NIKI reaches global pop sensation status as her single ‘Every Summertime’, released in August, garners over 60 million cumulative streams.

NIKI’s throwback single ‘Every Summertime’, co-written and co-produced with Jacob Ray, has cemented the singer as a worldwide phenomenon.

Just last week, the track charted inย Spotifyโ€™s Daily Top 50 in the Philippines, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia,ย andย Singapore. It has also charted inย Spotifyโ€™s Global Daily Viral 50ย and across theย USA, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, among others.

‘Every Summertime’ was first released as the lead single for the Marvel Studiosโ€™ film, Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings.

Interestingly, three music videos were released for the track. The first, released in August, was a visualizer starring a father and son played by rapper and actor Dumbfoundead and Minari star Alan Kim driving around the neighbourhood.

The second video, released in conjunction with the filmย Shang-Chi, sees NIKI singing and dancing through the aisles of Asian-American grocery chain 99 Ranch Supermarket.

An official music video, which chronicles NIKI’s rise to pop superstardom, was released in December.

NIKI comments,

โ€œโ€˜Every Summertimeโ€™ came together so fast โ€“ we wrote it in less than an hour! It was one of those magical moments where thereโ€™s a special kind of alchemy happening whilst creating and now itโ€™s one of our favorite songs of our careers.โ€

In an interview withย TeenVogue,ย she explains,

โ€œI think I just wanted to get at the Asian diasporic experience. What it would look like for two first-generation Asian Americans, going to college and falling in loveโ€”that was the inspiration.โ€
