Adele bursted into tears as her son saw her perform for the first time on Wednesday (Mar 16) at the London O2 Arena.

The “When We Were Young” singer may be the biggest recording artist in the world right now but she is, first and foremost, a mother.

“This is the first show my baby boy’s seen me do,” she told the audience before starting to sing one of 21‘s biggest hits, “Someone Like You”.

The first verse didn’t go on for long, though. Adele then paused to say hello to her little one, pointing into the crowd, saying “I love you so much, peanut.” According to the fan who was live-tweeting the event, the 27-year-old mother teared up in the process. She asked the audience to continue the song as she was having a bit of an emotional moment.

Adele had her three-year-old son Angelo Konecki with partner Simon Konecki, a CEO of a London-based non-profit organisation called Drop4Drop.

The singer had stepped out of the limelight to raise Angelo before coming back with her latest record-breaking album back in November. Whatever happens in her career, “My kid is more important,” she said in an interview. “My kid comes first, and my music comes second—and I come second.”

Adele’s a “lioness”, making sure her son grows up humble

“[H]e’s been keeping me totally cool and calm about the whole thing.”
