After a not-so-subtle hint, local promoter Phoenix Productions has announced their upcoming concert would feature reggae, rapper and alternative rocker Matisyahu.

The Jewish-American hitmaker and his band will be bringing their Undercurrent Tour to Manila, performing for the first time ever in Asia on Saturday, September 23 at SM City North EDSA Skydome.

Tickets, now available through SM Tickets and its outlets nationwide, are priced at PHP5,300 and 6,890 for VIP. The first 100 300 VIP ticket buyers will receive access to the band’s soundcheck before the show.

Matisyahu’s Undercurrent Tour comes in support of his sixth album released in May of the same name. The album features lead single “Step Out Into The Light”.

Matishayu is the Hebrew name and stage moniker of Matthew Paul Miller. Emerging in the 2000’s, the singer-songwriter is known for blending Orthodoxy themes with reggae, alternative rock and hip-hop. His 2005 single “Kind Without A Crown” from Shake Off The Dust… Arise climbed US charts, including Billboard Hot 100, and became Matishayu’s biggest track to date. His ophomore album, Youth, was nominated for a Grammy for Best Reggae Album in 2007.
