Coldplay’s Chris Martin has confirmed on Friday the band will be performing during the 2016 Super Bowl halftime show on February 7, 2016, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

The news was first reported by the Wall Street Journal on Thursday (Dec 3). Not only are fans getting thrilled over the announcement but also the frontman himself. Chris Martin confirmed the news, gushing, “We are so excited and honoured and thrilled to be playing the halftime show. This is the greatest moment in our band’s life. We are going to give it everything we have.”

The band will join the list of legendary performers who have headlined the halftime show. Katy Perry, who performed earlier this year broke the record with 121 million viewers tuning in to watch her 12-minute performance, 6 million more than Bruno Mars’s performance in 2014.
