‘Summertime’, the new collab single by the two Singapore-based artists, is described as a “tongue-in-cheek battle between the two crooners as they vie for the adoration of a girl.”

Singapore-based multi-instrumentalist Dru Chen joins forces with rising pop-R&B musician Rangga Jones, tapping into their playful personalities for a new single titled ‘Summertime’.

Dru Chen comments,

“This song takes you away from the bustle of overworked pandemic life and into a sunny getaway island for two. Not to be taken too seriously or at face-value, this song is a metaphor for celebrating good times.

It was an absolute privilege and a pleasure to work with Rangga Jones on this soulful pop-R&B number. He’s got the silkiest vocal tone and chops to boot.”

Rangga Jones also shares,

“I was deeply honoured to get the call to be a part of this and to be a part of the upcoming show. Collaborating with other people is one of my favourite things to do and to get to work with someone as creative and talented as Dru was really a pleasure.”

In an effort to expand his musicality for his upcoming album, Chen enlists the help of China-based producer JZlee.

He adds,

“He’s one of the grooviest musicians I know, and he created a deeply infectious vibe with his drums, sound design, strings, and wonderfully melodic instincts. We had so much fun making this track!”

Both Dru Chen and Rangga Jones are scheduled to play live together next month in at the Esplanade Concert Hall.
