Hot off the heels of his latest EP, Our Story, Dru Chen’s wistful new tune ‘Lost’ shows the Singapore-based artist delving further into his search for new sonic ground with a foray into the genre of folk music.

Motivated by his love for iconic duo, Simon & Garfunkel, ‘Lost’ features a blend of acoustic guitars and the sounds of open fields with birds fluttering.

Share Dru,

“The track embodies the little boy who lost himself in the middle of a huge football field and he can’t find his friends. There’s a yearning for security in those situations, and sometimes we end up trying to find it in the wrong places.”

Filled with wistful reflection and the quiet longing for our care-free childhood days, “Lost” basks in the mid-afternoon sunlight of memories.

“We pick up the pieces of our childhood when it gets reflected back at us through the people we meet later in life. It makes us think and reflect,” he adds.

With the success of his debut album “Mirror Work” in 2019, the multi-instrumentalist has his sights set on the release of a sophomore album later this year. The upcoming album, titled “Slow Life”, explores a refreshing mix of electropop, nu-disco, soul and R&B with the tracks debuting live at his upcoming show, as part of Esplanade’s Mosaic Music Series.

With the support of LINCH & Yung Lee Records, Australia-born, the Singapore-raised neo-soul R&B musician will bring his signature brand of smooth sounds and sensual rhythms to the Esplanade Concert Hall for a one-night-only intimate set on 12th November 2021 at 7.30pm.

With this performance marking his debut at the Esplanade Concert Hall, audiences can expect to kick back and enjoy a laid-back night of perfectly blended musical intricacies and expansive vocals. Lauded as “the perfect tonic for bruised hearts and the raging unpredictability of life”, Dru will deliver a mix of bops and ballads from his upcoming album, Slow Life, as well as some of his well-loved funk-infused originals. The night will also feature emerging young musician, fellow R&B singer-songwriter Rangga Jones. Together with Rangga’s dose of melodic guitar lines and charming tunes, the night promises to be one filled with sensuality that is bound to get hearts flutterin’ and bodies movin’ right in their seats.

DRU CHEN: an album launch with RANGGA JONES will be held at the Esplanade Concert Hall on 12 November 2021 and will be Dru’s first time performing at this venue.
