One thing is for certain for now: the Latin pop singer will by then have the Mandarin version of “Despacito” up his sleeve should he stop by Chinese-speaking countries. The song, recorded with Singapore’s own Mandopop giant JJ Lin, will be released in two weeks
“I sang a little bit in Mandarin,” Fonsi told AFP. “The song has become a worldwide phenomenon and singing it in Mandarin is an honour.”
“Despacito” is a reggaeton pop track featuring rapper Daddy Yankee from Luis Fonsi’s upcoming ninth album. The single was an instant hit among Latin music listeners upon its release in January, but became an even bigger, global phenomenon after the English-language remix featuring Justin Bieber brought it to the mainstream audience in April.
