The Toronto native surpassed other Canadian-born superstars, including Drake, Justin Bieber, Shawn Mendes and City and Colour for the titles.
The Weeknd also recently placed three top slots on Billboard‘s Hot R&B Songs chart.
Meanwhile, Bieber, who was awarded Juno Fan Choice Award, hadn’t had as good of a year, receiving “boos” from his Canadian fans after failing to show up to receive his award in Calgary. The 22-year-old decided to solve his awkward disappearance by accepting his award through a video.
The booing, however, is not new to the Biebs. Funnily enough, at the 2014 Juno Awards he was also booed at after failing to show up to receive his – wait for it – Fan Choice Award.
